Slimer is one of the most iconic characters in Ghostbusters, contributing to some of the most memorable scenes in the 1984 film. Incorporating this beloved character into your party is pretty easy with the right tools (aka green food coloring) and toys.

This Ghostbusters drink is a fruity treat complete with a mini donut snack your guests can munch on. For a savory addition, serve up nostalgia on a platter with these Slimer Pizza Bagels to round out your Ghostbusters theme party offerings.

Why You’ll Love This Drink

  • SUPER SIMPLE. No shaking, staining, or squeezing required. This is a “built” cocktail, so everything goes directly into the glass and you’re done.
  • FUN. The bright green color and donut garnish are super fun for kids, and most adults will get a kick out of it as well.
  • ON-THEME. If you are hosting a themed party, it’s essential (at least in my book) to serve an on-point-themed drink. This one checks all the boxes and is delicious to boot!

Ingredients You’ll Need for the Ghostbusters Drink:

Ingredient Notes:

  • Vodka. An appropriate brand would be Dan Aykroyd’s Crystal Head Vodka, but any Vodka will do. Omit this if you are making a non-alcoholic version.
  • Lemonade. Use something with real lemon juice, not artificial. My favorite brand is Simply Lemonade.
  • Tonic Water. The bitter-sweet flavor helps to balance this drink.
  • Green & Yellow Food Coloring. This needs to be liquid, not gel so it mixes easily into the drink.
  • Mini Donuts. This is of course an optional garnish, but it adds visual eye candy and guests will love the treat.

Tools You’ll Need

  • MEASURING JIGGER. This copper jigger from Cocktail Kingdom is my go-to.
  • GLASSES. I recommend a tall slim glass that will allow the green color fade to take center stage. I used these modern slim highball glasses and HIGHLY recommend them.

Substitutions & Variations

  • VODKA. If you aren’t a fan of Vodka, you can also make this drink with light Rum for an equally tasty cocktail.
  • SODA. The Tonic Water can be swapped for Sprite, 7-Up, or even soda water if you prefer a less sweet drink.
