If your little one is dreaming of a Rapunzel Birthday party, look no further for some fun inspiration to host the most enchanted Rapunzel-themed party of her dreams. Full of magical details, you can bring the party to life with dreamy flowers, themed food, and charming fairytale décor.
Rapunzel Birthday Party Inspiration
One of my daughter’s favorite princess movies is Tangled…Disney’s version of the classic Rapunzel story. So, for her 7th birthday, I set out to create the most magical Rapunzel birthday I could. While there are lots of ways to interpret the theme, I chose to make it an elegant magical experience with tons of flowers, butterflies, and forest details.
It turned out amazing and the look on her face when she saw the completed decorations was priceless!
Rapunzel Birthday Place Settings
The integral piece that drove my color palette was the Rapunzel birthday plates I found. Children’s parties are well suited for paper plates, and they get way more excitement out of a themed party plate than a boring adult plate. Just ask them. I layered the Rapunzel plates on top of simple shiny gold paper plates that were slightly larger to create a layered effect. Then for some fun 3D play I added a Rapunzel braid (made from yarn) around the edge and tied it with lavender ribbon.
I used matching pink napkins and shiny gold plastic silverware for each place setting. Then I sourced these amazing dark purple goblets that perfectly matched the plates and flowers. The best thing about these goblets is that they are plastic…so no need to worry about accidents. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they are also dishwasher safe, so they can be used again for other occasions (bonus!).
Rapunzel Birthday Tablescape
To bring the table to life I wanted to add a sparkly element, so I chose a lavender sequin tablecloth. It was the perfect shade of lavender to match the plates and amazingly affordable.
I found these lovely pale lilac glass votive holders in two different patterns and paired them with a darker purple version that matched the goblets. The glow of candles against the shiny sequins really set the mood for an enchanting evening.
Rapunzel Birthday Centerpiece
For the centerpiece décor, I wanted an abundance of flowers and greenery. I found these metallic pink matching pedestal vases at my local thrift store and paired them with a vintage green depression glass vase I already had in my glass collection. In between I burrowed lovely lavender velvet mushrooms (shop similar).
For the flowers, I started with a fern sprig and nestled in an eclectic mix of flowers in shades of pink, periwinkle blue, purple, and lavender. Each vase was different but coordinated together.
At the base of the vases, I layered several large fern fronds and then nestled fern sprigs in between to fill in the gaps. Small sprigs of pale lavender flowers were sparsely scattered in as well.
I decorated our chandelier with cascading purple Wisteria vines, green Amaranth, and pink Peonies to create an intimate flower curtain above the table.
For the finishing touch, I added these fantastic 3D Butterflies in pink and green that gave it the forest feel. And of course, a hidden Pascal sitting atop a mushroom. =)
Rapunzel Birthday Purple Punch
It wouldn’t be one of my parties without a themed drink…and for a Rapunzel birthday, it needed to be purple. For the kid-friendly purple punch, I mixed lemonade and limeade with homemade ginger syrup and added Butterfly Pea Flower powder to get the purple color (recipe below). I used a vintage glass punch bowl I found at a thrift store which added lots of charm. This was a real hit with the kids, and they loved ladling the punch into their cups.

For an adult libation, I crafted the Dreamy Flower Cocktail. A delicious concoction made with Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit and Rose. A must-try for any spring event.
Rapunzel Birthday Party Food
To set the backdrop for the food table I strung fabric bunting in shades of purple and white in a zig-zag pattern across the wall.
I used more of the fern and flower arrangements on the table and nestled in more votives, mushrooms, and butterflies. I used a vintage brass Loving Cup filled with faux Delphiniums as a tall backdrop. The food was served on vintage silver trays and in vintage glassware.
We kept the menu simple with foods you might find at a medieval marketplace. Croissants, Danishes, Berries, and Cheeses, along with a Crudité platter for the adults to enjoy. We also constructed a Donut Tower that was both visually stunning and tasty.
As a finishing touch to the food table, I added a large yarn Rapunzel braid embellished with ribbon and butterflies.
How to Build a Rapunzel Birthday Donut Tower
I’ve seen other talented people create donut towers and thought it was a fantastic idea since everyone loves donuts! You can easily assemble this a day ahead to save precious time on the day of.
My dear husband constructed the purple roof with construction paper. He went to great lengths cutting out shingles and pasting them together. It was laborious but well worth the final product in my opinion. Here is how we constructed the tower:
Materials:
- A 4″ Round Foam Disc. Available at most craft stores.
- A 3/8″ Dia. Wood Dowel. A 12″ length will hold 9 donuts.
- Aluminum Foil
- Variety of small faux flowers. I used pale pink Roses and purple Forget Me Knots.
- Purple Construction Paper
- 8″ Lace Paper Doily
- 10-11″ Cake Stand or Platter. I have had my purple Cake Stand for years and use it for many occasions. It’s durable and disassembles easily for storage. I highly recommend it.
- Donuts. I highly recommend using sugared donuts rather than glazed, as the glaze will melt and create an unsightly mess.
Instructions:
- Craft the conical roof from construction paper. This a great tutorial for creating a cone, and then you can paste shingles on if desired.
- Create a pilot hole in the foam disc with the dowl.
- Wrap the foam disc in aluminum foil.
- Insert the dowel back into the foam disc pushing through the foil.
- Insert the flowers in the foam disc starting with the larger ones and tucking the smaller flowers in between to fill in all of the gaps.
- Place on your serving platter with lace paper doily underneath.
- Stack donuts on top of each other.
- Place the conical paper roof on top of the donuts.
- Finish by tucking in a few small flowers in between the donuts.

Tips to create a fabulous party on a budget:
- Go Faux. While real flowers are lovely, they can be expensive, and sometimes difficult to find the right color you need depending on the season and where you live. I found a good majority of my faux flowers at thrift stores where they are a fraction of the price they sell for at craft stores. If you can’t find what you need at thrift stores, wait for sales. Hobby Lobby has their floral section 40% off almost every other week.
- Shop at Home. Scour your own home ( or a relative’s home) for pieces you can use. You might be surprised at what you can find and if you are willing to be creative you can achieve a truly amazing event.
- Splurge Selectively. By that, I mean spending money on the things that really matter and will make the biggest impact. Maybe a fancy tablecloth will make all the difference, but no one will really care about the paper napkin they are wiping their mouth on.
I hope you were able to find some inspiration to create the “Best Day Ever” for your little princess.
Happy Decorating!
