Stranger Things might be the best TV show that’s come out since the 1980s. So of course I had to create some fun libations to toast the show. Whether you are throwing an 80s theme party or just a Stranger Things viewing party, these 6 nostalgically inspired Stranger Things Cocktails will help you celebrate in style.
Take a trip back in time to 1983 and journey through Hawkins as we pay homage to the iconic characters and places of the Stranger Things TV series.
Stranger Things Cocktails
Chapter One: Jim’s Cup
Mornings are for coffee and contemplation. And whiskey. This creamy coffee cocktail is spiked with whiskey and a hint of sweet maple syrup. Sure to make any weekend morning more palatable…If you’re going to mess around with Stranger Things Cocktails, then mess with this one. Just don’t mess around with Jim.
Ingredients you will need:
- 2 oz. – Whiskey or Bourbon
- 3 oz. – Cold Brew Coffee. This should be unsweetened.
- 1 oz. – Cream. You can also use Half-n-Half.
- ½ oz. – Maple Syrup. Pure maple syrup is best.
Tools you will need:
- Boston Shaker
- Measuring Jigger
- Cocktail Strainer
- A Double Old-Fashioned Glass
How to make a Jim’s Cup:
- Combine all ingredients except for the cream in a cocktail shaker.
- Shake vigorously with ice and strain over fresh ice.
- Slowly pour cream on top.
- Serve with a glazed donut.
Chapter Two: Surfer Boy Pineapple Jalapeño Margarita
You gotta taste it to believe it my dudes. This nod to Argyle and his famous Pineapple Jalapeño pizza is sure to spice up the party. This sweet and spicy Margarita will knock your socks off. Try before you deny.
Ingredients you will need:
- 2 oz. – Tequila. I prefer Blanco for this recipe.
- 1 oz. – Triple Sec
- 2 oz. – Pineapple Juice
- 1 oz. – Lime Juice. Freshly Squeezed
- ½ oz. Jalapeño Simple Syrup (recipe below) or more to taste.
- 4-5 Jalapeño’s. Sliced into wheels.
- Salt. Optional.
Tools you will need:
- Boston Shaker
- Measuring Jigger
- A rocks glass or Margarita glass.
How to make a Surfer Boy Pineapple Jalapeño Margarita:
- If you like salt on the rim, do this first.
- Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker.
- Shake vigorously with ice and pour into glass.
- Garnish with a Jalapeno wheel on the rim of the glass.
- Serve with a slice of Jalapeño Pineapple Pizza.
Note: If you don’t want this to be spicy, clean the seeds and ribs out first and rinse well to remove the oils. Then add the slices to your drink.
Jalapeño Simple Syrup Recipe:
Ingredients
- ½ cup Sugar
- ½ cup water
- One Jalapeño. Washed and sliced.
Instructions:
- In a small saucepan over medium heat dissolve the sugar into the water.
- Add the slices of jalapeños and turn heat to low.
- Simmer for 5-8 minutes.
- Remove from heat and strain the jalapeños and any seeds out.
Note: If you don’t want this to be spicy, clean the seeds and ribs out first and rinse well to remove the oils. Then add the slices to the syrup.
Chapter Three: U.S.S. Butterscotch Russian
Calling all U.S.S. Butterscotch lovers. We’re looking at a full-scale White Russian invasion, right here in this cocktail. This Butterscotch twist on a White Russian is sure to satisfy the Scoops Ahoy fans. Creamy, sweet, and boozy. Erica would approve (if she were 21).

Ingredients you will need:
- 1 oz. – Vodka. Pick your favorite.
- ½ oz. – Kahlua
- 1 ½ oz. Butterscotch Schnapps
- 2 oz. – Cream
- Whipped Cream Spray.
- Maraschino Cherry
Tools you will need:
- Boston Shaker
- Measuring Jigger
- A Milkshake glass
How to make a U.S.S. Butterscotch Russian:
- Add the Vodka, Kahlua and Butterscotch Schnapps to a cocktail shaker.
- Shake vigorously with ice, then pour directly into your glass.
- Slowly add the cream on top.
- Garnish with whipped cream and a cherry. These Collins Maraschino Cherries are perfect for cocktails and taste great.
- Serve with the best Fudgy Cocoa Brownies you’ll ever taste.
Chapter Four: Hawkins Highball
This Stranger Things cocktail screams Hawkins High Tiger pride. You’ll be minty fresh and ready for the pep rally. Just take it easy if you start to hear voices. And if you are still in High School this can be crafted without alcohol too!
Ingredients you will need:
- 1 oz. – Vodka
- 1 ½ oz. – Crème de Menthe Liqueur
- ½ oz. – Lime Juice. Freshly squeezed.
- Lemonade
- Maraschino Cherries
Tools you will need:
- Measuring Jigger
- A Highball glass
- Cocktail picks
How to make a Hawkins Highball:
- Fill your highball glass with ice.
- Add Vodka, Crème de Menthe, and lime juice to your glass and stir.
- Top off with Lemonade.
- Stir again until combined.
- Add three cherries skewered on a cocktail pick as the garnish.
- Serve with the most decadent Reese’s Pieces Peanut Butter Cookies you need to try.
Virgin Hawkins Highball
For a non-alcoholic version substitute the Crème de Menthe Liqueur for Crème de Menthe Syrup and omit the Vodka entirely.
Chapter Five: Palace Arcade Punch
Sorry Keith, this one is definitely not PG. But it does go well with Cheetos Puffs. Don’t be fooled by the neon blue color, this fun and tropical Stranger Things cocktail is sweet, tart and delicious. It will transport you back in time while playing Dig Dug on your arcade (and I promise it won’t give you a rash).
Ingredients you will need:
- 1 ½ oz. – White Rum
- 1 oz. – Blue Curacao
- 1 oz. – Orgeat
- 1 ½ oz. – Lime Juice. Freshly squeezed.
- Maraschino Cherry

How to make Palace Arcade Punch
- Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker.
- Shake vigorously with ice and strain over fresh ice in your highball glass. I used these modern Highball glasses which look thin and sleek, but are surprisingly sturdy.
- Garnish with a single cherry.
- Serve with a bag of Cheetos Puffs.
Chapter Six: Alexei’s Cherry Slurpee Sling
If you like Cherry Slurpee’s as much as Alexei, then you will love this Stranger Things cocktail. Cherry Kool-Aid does the trick and is perfectly balanced with rum and tart lemon juice. Just don’t try to pull a fast one on Alexei…no cherry, no deal!
Ingredients you will need:
- 2 oz. – White Rum
- ½ oz. – Lemon Juice. Freshly squeezed.
- ½ oz. – Simple Syrup
- 3 oz. – Cherry Kool-Aid
- 3-4 dashes of Aromatic Bitters
Tools you will need:
- Boston Shaker
- Measuring Jigger
- Cocktail Strainer
- A Highball glass or a Slurpee cup.
- Plastic Straw
How to make Alexei’s Cherry Slurpee Sling
- Add all ingredients except the bitters to a cocktail shaker.
- Shake vigorously with ice and strain over fresh ice in your glass.
- Add 3-4 dashes of bitters on top. I prefer Woodford Reserve Aromatic Bitters for this cocktail.
- Serve with a plastic straw and a Burger King Whopper.
