Welcome to a berry sweet Strawberry Shortcake Party inspired by the beloved 1980s cartoon! Join Strawberry Shortcake and her berry best friends for a nostalgic celebration filled with retro details, classic treats, and charming nods to Strawberryland.

As a child of the ’80s, I consider it my motherly duty—nay, my sacred calling—to expose my kids to as many classic cartoons as possible. Strawberry Shortcake? Mandatory viewing. It was the golden age of Saturday morning TV, and I won’t hear otherwise. So it didn’t take much convincing for my girls to fall head over strawberry-scented heels for her too.
When my soon-to-be six-year-old told me she wanted a vintage Strawberry Shortcake birthday party, I nearly cried. Berry sweet treats, strawberry details, and red gingham for days… heaven? Close.
So grab your bonnet and join us down the berry brick road for a sweet celebration straight out of Berry Bitty City.

For the party table, I started with a classic red-and-white gingham tablecloth—because nothing says “Strawberry Shortcake” quite like gingham. I layered sweet white eyelet paper plates with the cutest Strawberry Shortcake dessert plates on top for that perfect vintage stack.

To match the plates, I added white cotton eyelet napkins and tied pink cutlery sets with red gingham ribbon. Vintage milk glass goblets were finished with dainty pink gingham bows for an extra touch of charm.

I was downright giddy when The Loyal Subjects released a new line of throwback Strawberry Shortcake dolls last year. Blueberry Muffin, Orange Blossom, and Plum Pudding made their way onto the table as adorable décor—making the whole setup, as Strawberry would say, “right as raspberries.”

For the centerpiece, I used a vintage milk glass urn overflowing with florals: white spray roses, pink gerbera daisies, lime green hydrangeas, and pink tulips tucked in on top for height and a touch of whimsy. It was cheerful, fragrant, and just the right amount of over-the-top.

I added red gingham chair cushions (Pioneer Woman, thank you Walmart) to cozy up the seating. To top it off, I found the cutest vintage-inspired blanket and pillow set featuring Strawberry Shortcake and Orange Blossom—pure ’80s magic and the perfect finishing touch for our berry sweet setup.

Berry Sweet Favors & Decor

The favor table was layered with my daughter’s vintage Strawberry Shortcake patchwork quilt—a sweet nod to childhood—and topped with the prized gazebo Strawberry won in the Big Bake Off (yes, we’re deep in the lore here).

I hand-crafted party hats using signature pink-and-white polka dot fabric, red ric-rack trim, eyelet lace, and, naturally, a red gingham bow perched on top. Each hat was finished with an enamel Strawberry Shortcake character pin for extra flair.

For the favors, I made homemade strawberry jam and packaged it in quilted glass jars with pink fabric toppers tied in tidy bows. These were neatly arranged in a white wicker basket for guests to take home. For the littlest partygoers, I also included mini jars of Bonne Maman strawberry jam—adorable, fuss-free, and just as sweet.

Strawberry Shortcake Party Treats

The food table was draped in a vintage Strawberry Shortcake bedsheet-turned-tablecloth that instantly set the tone for a pastel-perfect spread.

A lemon yellow cake stand held a classic Lemon Meringue Pie, while a pastel pink one showcased homemade Raspberry Pop-Tarts. Huckleberry Hand Pies were nestled in vintage milk glass, and mini Blueberry Muffins had their own little basket, tied up with blue gingham bows (naturally).

Creamy Lime Chiffon Jello cups were served in vintage green depression glass, and a jadeite bowl held the fluffy lime whipped cream topping (so delicious!).

All the food labels were designed in Canva and printed locally. I used a corner punch to echo the eyelet pattern used throughout the party and glued small red gingham bows to the fronts.

The strawberry shortcake birthday cake was topped with the berry sweetest strawberry candles and perched on a ruffled jadeite cake stand for that perfect touch of vintage charm. It was served on pastel pink gingham scalloped plates that looked almost too cute to eat off of… almost.

To tie it all together, I hung giant honeycomb strawberries from the ceiling to make you feel like you’d stepped right into a strawberry patch. Red, white, and gingham cotton bunting along the walls added the final festive touch.

Berry Refreshing Sips

For a special beverage, I served Orange Blossom Punch—a delightfully sweet and creamy drink that was a hit with both kids and adults. It was served in a vintage milk glass hobnail pitcher with matching jadeite green hobnail tumblers.

Red striped straws were nestled in a milk glass vase, and a fresh arrangement of roses and hydrangeas added charm in another vintage hobnail vase. Everything was set atop a darling strawberry-printed tablecloth from April Cornell, tying the whole scene together in berry sweet style.
