Nothing says spring quite like juicy strawberries, and this Strawberry Bourbon Cocktail is the perfect spring drink for an Easter Brunch or afternoon Garden Party. Fresh strawberries paired with tart lemon, rose water, and smooth bourbon create a refreshing drink you must try.
Why you’ll love this recipe:
Fresh Flavors. We use fresh strawberries and freshly squeezed lemon juice to create a zingy crisp cocktail full of character.
Crowd Pleaser. This one goes down easy and will be loved by everyone. Even the non-Bourbon enthusiasts will like this Strawberry Bourbon cocktail. You can also scale this recipe up and make a pitcher for a large group.
Easy. With just four ingredients this is a simple cocktail to make but is still very impressive looking. Make a large batch of the strawberry simple syrup and you will be able to whip these up again and again with minimal effort.
Ingredients needed for the Strawberry Bourbon Cocktail:
- Bourbon. A good quality Bourbon such as Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace, or Bulleit (one of my favorites) will make this drink stand out.
- Strawberry Simple Syrup. This fresh syrup is sweet and full of fresh strawberry flavor. Recipe Below.
- Lemon Juice. Fresh squeezed is always preferred, but in a pinch bottled lemon juice will work too. I like Santa Cruz Pure Lemon juice that is not from concentrate.
- Rose Water. This adds a subtle floral note that gives this cocktail some complexity. Fee’s is a brand you can find at most grocery stores, or you can try this Organic Damask Rose Water which is superb.
- Fresh Strawberries. For the garnish.
Tools you will need:
- Measuring Jigger. This copper jigger from Cocktail Kingdom is my go-to.
- Boston Shaker. A good quality shaker is a staple for any bar.
- A Double Old-Fashioned or Cocktail Glass. You can also use vintage goblets or punch cups for added charm. I’m using a combination of vintage Indiana Glass and Hazel Atlas glass goblets.
How to make a Strawberry Bourbon Cocktail:
- Combine the Bourbon, strawberry simple syrup, rose water, and lemon juice in your shaker.
- Shake vigorously with ice and pour un-strained into your glass.
- Garnish with chopped strawberries or a strawberry slice on the rim of the glass.
- Cheers!
How to make Strawberry Simple Syrup:
Tools:
Save This!
- Small Saucepan
- Spoon
- Fine Mesh Strainer
- Syrup Bottle. I love these syrup bottles. They come with several toppers and hold a large batch.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups of fresh strawberries, washed, hulled, and chopped.
Instructions:
- Add water, sugar, and strawberries to the saucepan. Bring the water to a boil and stir gently until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Reduce the heat and simmer for about 20 minutes. Stir gently occasionally. Avoid crushing the strawberries as this will make the syrup cloudy.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
- Strain out the solids and transfer the syrup to a syrup bottle with a tight seal. Tip: keep the solid strawberries and use them to mix into plain Greek yogurt for breakfast.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
This will yield about 1 ½ cups (12 oz.) of strawberry syrup.
