1. Polynesian Witch Spell
This Tiki Gin Halloween Cocktail is inspired by the Polynesian Spell…a 1960s tiki cocktail created by Sandro Canti of the Kahiki. The Kahiki was a Polynesian Supper Club in Ohio. It was well known for its lavish tiki décor and three-stories-tall Easter Island head fireplace.
My Halloween version is not too different from the original, with just a touch more grape juice and some Butterly Pea Flower Powder added for a bewitchingly deep purple color.
Tools you will need:
- Boston Shaker
- Measuring Jigger
- Cocktail Strainer
- A goblet, a double old-fashioned glass, or any interesting glass you can find. I used a Brandy snifter to make it look more like a witch cauldron.
Ingredients you will need:
- Gin. Something smooth. Pick your favorite.
- Grape Juice. The purple stuff, and 100% juice.
- Lemon Juice. Fresh squeezed, please. Or you can also get away with Santa Cruz Pure Lemon juice that is not from concentrate.
- Triple Sec
- Peach Brandy
- Simple Syrup
- Butterfly Pea Powder. This is what will give this cocktail the extra punch of purple.
What is Butterfly Pea Powder?
This powder is made from the butterfly pea plant, a flowering vine that is native to Southeast Asia. The powder is known for its striking natural color, which can range from deep blue to purple, depending on the pH of the liquid it is mixed with. Acidic juices will cause the color to shift from blue to purple to pink depending on the acidity level and the quantity added. Nothing could be more fun for a Halloween cocktail!
How to make the Polynesian Witch Spell cocktail:
- Add all of the ingredients to a mixing glass.
- Shake vigorously with ice and strain into a glass with fresh ice.
- Add a plastic spider garnish to the rim.
- Optional: Add a small piece of dry ice to get the potion bubbling. Please refer to this guide for safety precautions when handling dry ice.
2. Nilbog Goblin Juice Cocktail
I had the pleasure of watching perhaps one of the worst movies ever made recently, by the name of “Troll 2”. I do love campy Halloween movies…but this one really takes the cake. It’s so awful it’s spectacular and must be seen to be believed. If you’ve seen it, you know what I mean, if not…watch it. If nothing else it’s good for a laugh and even more enjoyable with a themed Troll 2 cocktail in hand. This green Nilbog Goblin Juice cocktail does the trick.
Serve this with some fun Halloween Caramel Popcorn to round out your spooky movie night!
This Gin Halloween cocktail is based on a Midori sour, sweet and tart with a potent bite. Your guests will love the electric green color and slimy eyeballs. You can even make a non-alcoholic version for the kiddos.
Tools you will need:
- Boston Shaker
- Measuring Jigger
- A double old-fashioned glass, Hurricane glass, or any interesting glass you can find.
Ingredients you will need:
- Gin. Something smooth. Pick your favorite.
- Midori. Or any suitable green Melon liqueur.
- Lime Juice. If you are using freshly squeezed be sure to strain out the pulp. Nellie & Joe’s Key Lime juice is quite good for a bottled version and is available at most grocery stores.
- Soda Water
How to make the Nilbog Goblin Juice cocktail:
- Add the Gin, Midori, and lime juice to a mixing glass.
- Shake vigorously with ice and pour unstrained into a glass.
- Top with more ice if needed and add a splash of soda water on top.
- Garnish with Eyeball gummies.

How to make a non-alcoholic Nilbog Goblin Juice:
- Fill your glass with fresh ice.
- Add ½ oz of lime juice
- Add 2-3 drops of green food coloring
- Top off the glass with Lemon Lime Soda and gently stir to combine.
- Garnish with Eyeball gummies.
3. Candy Corn Alexander
If you like sweet and creamy cocktails then this Candy Corn Alexander is for you. But don’t be fooled, this one still packs a punch and is a fun way to enjoy a Gin Halloween cocktail. Though this has Candy Corn in it, it does not have an overly Candy Corn flavor, so even those who despise this controversial candy can enjoy this drink. And if you love Candy Corn you can enjoy the garnish as a sweet treat.
This cocktail goes great with a batch of homemade Chocolate Pumpkin Whoopie Pies that your guests can munch on while mingling.
This cocktail starts with the classic Alexander cocktail recipe. Perhaps not as popular as the Brandy Alexander anymore, but equally delicious in my view. The botanical flavor of Gin pairs surprisingly well with the chocolate liqueur and the added Candy Corn syrup adds a touch of sweet vanilla.
Tools you will need:

- A coupe or martini glass.
Ingredients you will need:
- Gin. Something smooth. Pick your favorite.
- White Crème De Cacao
- Whipping Cream. You can substitute with half and half for a lighter drink, but the cream will make it extra rich and creamy.
- Candy Corn Syrup. Instructions below.
- Candy Corn. For the garnish.
How to make a Candy Corn Alexander:
- Start with your Candy Corn garnish first. To do this, use a hot knife to score the bottom of two pieces of Candy Corn. Place them on opposite sides of the glass so they look like little devil horns.
- Next, make the Candy Corn syrup by adding 7-8 pieces of candy to a saucepan with about 1 oz of water. Bring to a boil stirring consistently until all of the Candy Corn has melted. Let cool. Note: if you want a large batch of the syrup use 1 cup of candy and 1 cup of water.
- Add all of the ingredients to a mixing glass.
- Shake vigorously with ice and strain into your glass.
- Sprinkle with Nutmeg and orange sugar (optional).

Below are some other great Gin Halloween cocktails that I love to get into the Halloween spirit:
Witches’ Brew Punch:
- 1 ½ oz gin
- 1 oz blackberry liqueur
- 1 oz lime juice
- ½ oz simple syrup
- 2 oz club soda
- Blackberries for garnish
Mix gin, blackberry liqueur, lime juice, and simple syrup in a glass. Add club soda and stir gently. Garnish with blackberries.
Bloody Gin and Tonic:
- 2 oz gin
- 4-6 oz tonic water
- 1 oz pomegranate juice
- Lime wedge for garnish
- Fake vampire teeth (optional)
Fill a highball glass with ice, add gin and tonic water. Slowly pour in the pomegranate juice, allowing it to sink to the bottom for a bloody effect. Garnish with a lime wedge and add fake vampire teeth to the glass for extra fun.
Corpse Reviver #2:
- 1 oz gin
- 1 oz orange liqueur
- 1 oz Lillet Blanc or white vermouth
- 1 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
- A dash of absinthe or pastis
- Orange twist for garnish
Chill a cocktail glass. Combine Gin, Cointreau, Lillet Blanc, and lemon juice in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into the chilled glass. Add a dash of absinthe, and garnish with an orange twist.
Poison Apple Martini:
- 2 oz gin
- 1 oz sour apple liqueur
- ½ oz lemon juice
- ½ oz simple syrup
- Red food coloring (for a “poisonous” look)
- Apple slice for garnish
